Utthita Trikonasana or Triangle pose is one of the first yoga poses we learn in our asana practice, but it doesn’t mean it comes easy to everyone. Most of us are still prone to misalignments, struggle to find our balance, and have difficulty maintaining our breath while holding the posture.
So to help you out, we’ve compiled some tips, tricks, and practice below and above through a video!
🔸Take a step open to the right, front foot pointing straight, back foot turn in at about 45 degrees.
🔸Arms out parallel, inhale reach out over the front foot grabbing your toes with your two fingers, or grab the shin or the ankle.
🔸Extend the other arm up into the air and look up at your fingertips.
🔸Open your chest. Breathe deeply. Keep the legs straight and strong. Both feet pressing down firmly.
🔸Look down to your front foot as you exhale, then rise up to standing as you inhale.
🔸Do the opposite side by turning your front foot at 45 degrees and back foot straight, pivoting to the opposite direction.
🔸Keep your hands parallel to the floor.
🔸Inhale, reach out your front foot, exhale, grab your toes with your two first fingers or grab the shin or the ankle.
🔸Reach the other arm up towards the ceiling, opening up your chest, breath deeply, long and slow.
🔸Exhale, look down to your front foot, and inhale slowly come up to standing.
